Part-Time Jobs Working with Urban Youths

Position 1: Community LEARNS Assistant Site Coordinator
Status: Part-time, 20-30 hours per week
Compensation: $13 - $16/Hour, commensurate with experience/training
Program Sites: Pittsburgh Brashear, Peabody, Schenley, and/or University Prep

This position will assist in the coordination of the educational services, employment services, mentoring, case management, and social and recreational programming of the Community LEARNS program. Positions are available working with students at Brashear, Peabody, Schenley at Reizenstein, and/or University Prep. The ideal candidate will be able to lead urban youths, have strong supervision, communication and computer skills, possess an ability to take written and oral directions, enjoy working with teens, have a PA driver’s license and insurance, and be able to drive a 15-passenger van.


Position 2: Academic Tutor
Status: Part time, 10-15 hours per week, flexible
Compensation: $12.50-$15.00 per hour, commensurate with experience/training
Program Sites: Pittsburgh Peabody, Schenley, and Brashear

This position will tutor 9th–12th grade youths who are voluntarily participating in afterschool program. Duties include math and literacy tutoring and homework help. Tutoring and academic credit recovery software utilized, training provided. Tutoring offered to students between 3 and 6 p.m., Monday-Friday. The ideal candidate will be strong in reading and math, have previous teaching and or tutoring experience, be available during afterschool hours (normally 3 to 6 p.m.), and enjoy working with high school students.
