Another MLK Day Celebration

On Sunday afternoon, January 17, 2010, the East End Cooperative Ministry (EECM) will honor the life and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at its 26th Celebration and Annual Gathering of EECM congregations. Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church, located at 6111 Rodman Street (East Libert Boulevard and Collins Avenue), will host this year's service. The Celebration begins with music at 3:30 p.m., with the actual service at 4 p.m. Participating in the musical portion will be several youth choirs, and the Neighborhood Academy Drum Ensemble. Keynote speaker this year is the Rev. DeNeice Welch, pastor of Bidwell Street United Presbyterian and the architect of the "Shalom Project," which targets violence in Pittsburgh's Manchester neighborhood.

Admission to the event is free, and all are welcome. Donations of canned goods for the EECM food pantry are encouraged. There will be a reception following the service in the church's Fellowship Hall. For more information, contact EECM at 412-361-5549 or eecm@eecm.org.
