Summer Youth Employment Program - Can you help?

Sixty work sites for summer interns are needed by the Bloomfield Garfield Corp. We pick up all the cost and liability!

With the United States in financial crisis the Federal Government has released funding to stimulate our economy. Part of this plan includes helping to increase the work and academic competencies of many young Americans. The City of Pittsburgh has been aiding this effort by designing a program model to give paid internships to young adults within for-profit and non-profit organizations.

This summer the Bloomfield Garfield Corporation (BGC) is working with youths aged 14-21 to engage in meaningful internships that will increase their job readiness skills and career options. All expenses for the youths' time as interns will be paid by the BGC, including all wages, workers compensation, and liability insurance. The only responsibility from the work site will be to provide a quality work experience. Youths will be placed at internship sites for 30 hours a week for 6 weeks from July 6 to August 14, 2009.

The Summer Youth Employment team will work very hard to make your experience as a work site a positive one. We will act as a liaison between you and your intern to ensure that things go smoothly.

If you would like to explore hosting one or more young people, please e-mail us at kateh@bloomfield-garfield.org. We will call you to discuss the program in more detail.
