Recycle Your TV

To coincide with the digital TV switchover happening next month, the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) is sponsoring a TV recycling event on Feb. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Get rid of your old TV at one of two Pittsburgh locations: the City of Pittsburgh Environmental Services Facility, 3001 Railroad Avenue, Pittsburgh 15201; or Construction Junction, 214 North Lexington Street, Pittsburgh 15208.

TVs have many toxic materials in them, including lead, cadmium, flame retardants, and PVC plastics, so make sure yours is disposed of properly. There will be a small fee charged for recycling TVs: $10 for 19" and smaller; $20 for 20-29"; $25 for 30-39"; and $35 for 40" and larger.

For more information, visit www.prc.org or call Sarah at 412-288-7490 x 236 or email saraha@ccicenter.org.
