Position: Community LEARNS Program Manager
Reports To: Executive Director
Status: Full-Time
Closing Date: February 29, 2008
Salary Range: $37,000 - $42,000

Job Summary:

This staff member will manage the Community LEARNS (CL) program which provides afterschool and summer programming to Peabody High School students. This staff member will be in a leadership position with full responsibilities for the implementation of academic, support and recreational services at the Community LEARNS sites. Community LEARNS is an academics first program model with its primary student outcomes focusing on reading and math proficiency and high school graduation. This position will also have the primary responsibility for leading the effort to drive the academic and tutoring services for the initiative.

Responsibilities:

Program Management

  • Supervise Mt. Ararat, Bloomfield Garfield Corporation, and Pittsburgh Peabody site staff
  • Oversee data tracking and filing systems at all sites
  • Create and implement daily, weekly and monthly program schedules
  • Develop recreation component of the Community LEARNS program
  • Provide case management services and supports to CL Participants

Academic Coordination

  • Produce and assemble secondary reading and math curriculum materials for distribution to program staff and tutors
  • Collect and evaluate Pittsburgh Public School assessment data on all program participants
  • Coordinate Supplemental Education Services (SES) program component
  • Develop an academic plan with yearly goals and monthly objectives for each participant in the CL program; Report on progress on monthly objectives
  • Develop relationships with Peabody High School administration and teachers
  • Supervise program tutors at all program sites
  • Create daily lesson plans for each program tutor
  • Provide group and shoulder to shoulder training for program staff and tutors
  • Evaluate the functionality and appropriateness of academic software and other curricula
  • Regularly collect and compile student and program data
  • Engage parents
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
  • Teaching experience
  • Experience in a community based afterschool program setting
  • Technology skills
  • Willingness to work during afterschool hours
  • A Valid PA driver’s license
  • Act 33/34 clearances
